Belcarra blouse by Sewaholic made in a beautiful organic Cotton volie from Tygpyssling. I have wanted to made this blouse ever since the first view of it when Sewaholic realized her maxi skirt but having placed on order from her the day before I have been waiting for a few new favorites or someone to order together with to lower the relative shipping so when she released it as a PDF pattern this friday I jumped on it and by 3pm the day after I had this amazing top without any changes to the pattern. It fits loosely and wonderfully, If I were to make a change I would be to decrease the neckline but I think that this neckline will be wonderful in warmer weather even if I’m more comfortable with high and narrow necklines. After this I’d really like to get the Minoru Jacket I’m thinking of making it as rain jacket but haven’t fount the perfect colour yet. Does anyone know were to get nice rain wear fabric in dark navy blue with a soft surface?
This blouse is also my last piece for the spring top sew-along that ended yesterday, it has been very inspiring to see the other creations and if you didn’t join but still want to see some, you can find the flickr group here.
Pencil-skirt is made out of the kitchen curtain scraps, out of the pattern from Gerties new book for better sewing although I modified it a lot firstly I wanted a straight skirt not a mermaid type skirt that the patterns is. And then I had to take it in about 3 sizes for the waist, that is my difference between hips and waist in Gertie’s patterns and I also made a different waist band. It is un lined since it’s linen and intended to be worn in warm weather and I can’t bear to be too hot and have clingy clothes, but I think unlined in linen will be perfect.
This is my Project Sewn Floral Frenzy for this week, so go over to Project Sewn and vote for me or however you think has made the best flowery outfit on saturday.
I have been way busy in school for the past 6 weeks and hardly mange the sew at all. But this saturday was amazing, I did almost have free time and energy enough to make something. I really like my school but the amount of work these past weeks have been whey to mush, but from the bright side there is only 2 weeks left in this course then I only have my project left with means that I’m about 1 year from being a proper chemist, isn’t that amazing.
I love these black and white photos they almost feel like analog photos and I love to develop my own film and control the exposure colour/contrast and extra lightning of the paper and then to wait for the resulting photo. I will probably add one of these to our photo wall. It also helps to give the photos the 60’s feeling of the outfit. I thought I’d give you one colour thou so you can see the beautiful flowery print and the rich navy of the skirt, these will probably be new go-to pieces.
The flowers behind our house are currently amazing, the ultimate Flower Frenzy.
What a beautiful outfit! I have the blouse pattern, too, and am looking forward to sewing it up!
As you might have noised, I’m very bias to it, it’s simple and beautiful, very quick and easy to make and I did not have to do any fit related alterations that never happens.
Absolutely darling outfit!!
Thank you, it is a lovely and interesting challenge.
Pretty! And I love your b&w photographs, too!
