DIY | Wrist Pincushion
It is easy and very quick to make your own, it takes about 30 minuets maximum 1h and all you need is listed below.
- lid 5-6 cm in diameter for best result
- fabric preferably drapy, durable and tightly woven
- elastic for waistband
- carded wool, the softer the better
- soap for felting the wool
- thread and sewing needle
- ribbon for the side of lib, optional
Felt a soft ball of wool using soap it is so pose to be slightly larger that the lid and still soft to keep it light. Cover it with fabric by sew a gathering thread and gather evenly and secure.
Then cover the lid in the same way and secure.
Se if the fit is right
Sew on the elastic in between the lid and cushion in a length that fits around the wrist and keeps it still without being to tight. Sew the cushion ti the lid with invisible stitch.
Enjoy your new beautiful wrist pincushion, both of these a from my favorite scraps the flowery from this Washi and the dotted from my Mimi blouse both are cotton with can stand the constant poking that a pincushion gets and now I finally have one for my silk pins as well.
Cinderella at the princes ball
I feel a bit like Cinderella at the Princes ball when I’m wearing this. It is made in thai silk that my father bought for me a few years ago, the colour wasn’t great so I over-dyed the fabric before I started cutting. This dress calls for a festive occasion, so it will probably be a visit to the Concert Hall soon. The pattern is my basic bodice with a width long gathered skirt and button up back.
I need a petticoat for this but I didn’t think of it before I saw these pictures.
Knight
My sisters 5 year birthday it coming up soon and I she has requested a crotched crown in shiny sparkly golden yarn. I thought the a knight costume would be perfect, she already have a few princess dresses. I made a crown in shiny golden jersey and a mantle in shiny emerald velour and bough a wooden sword.
I made a mantle pattern after one of her t-shirts, used the same shoulder slope and just continued downward.
To make it sturdier a inserted a thick steel treed in the points of the crown.
I used a wide zigzag on one side and hooks on the other side to fasten it .
